I’ve been a devotee of Lanolips 101 Ointment for some time, but until now have avoided buying the coloured lip balms because I have so many other lip glosses to use up. However, when I spied this gift pack in Priceline for a tiny AUD $20 for three balms (when the Lanolips 101 ointment along usually retails for AUD $17.95) I had to have it. It contains ‘Apples’, 101 Ointment, and ‘Rose’ lips balms – all full size.
I’ve been wearing the colours ‘Apples’ and ‘Rose’ quite a bit this week. You get a sense of the colour of both in the pictures above, but whilst ‘Apples’ has the look of a gloss, ‘Rose’ has the finish of a lip tint.
‘Apples’ is a red colour in the tube, but looks like a red with a hint of pink on the lips. It’s quite a neutral look on me, and would work really well with a variety of other makeup on the face. ‘Rose’ is a neutral pink colour and would look great paired with a smokey eye. Both balms are a great option for weekends where you don’t want to wear a lot of makeup. The colour doesn’t last through a meal, or even a coffee, but it’s the kind of product that I don’t mind re-applying because it feels so good on the lips.
The formulation of the coloured balms feels the same as the 101 Ointment, which is the best lip balm I’ve found. I have naturally dry lips, so I have one next to my bed and one in my bag at all times. Lanolips 101 Ointment keeps my lips plump and soft all day. I think the coloured balms would also work really well on winter days when my lips are really dry and I can’t face putting any lip products on. It’s great to use such a healing product with enough colour to make you look ‘finished’ when you head out the door to work.
I bought the Lanolips Trio Gift Pack at Priceline for AUD $20 (despite the $29.95 price on the box).
