I love eyeshadow primers. Before I discovered these nifty little products, my eyeshadow would last about an hour on my lids before it would be creased beyond all recognition. Now I can take time applying my eyeshadow and have it looking pretty good by the end of the day.
I have both Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Urban Decay Primer Potion, and find the only real difference between the two is that the Urban Decay can sometimes leave my lids a little dry. However, being the blogger that I am and constantly craving the new and improved, I had to try Laura Mercier’s latest offering in Wheat.
This product applies smoothly and is excellent at covering redness and any other discolouration you may have on your lids. It’s a lovely peach colour, which means that you have to make sure that your eyeshadow covers the primed area on your lid, or you may get a peach colour peaking out the side of your grey shadow. Of course, you can always use this primer as a shadow on its own, or in conjunction with brown shadows for an easier application.
Eyeshadow blends even better over this Laura Mercier primer than the Too Faced or Urban Decay, which immediately got me excited. However, it did not last on my oily eyelids. It didn’t do nothing, but it didn’t provide the hold of other eyeshadow primers I’ve used. If Laura Mercier’s Eye Shadow Primer were a hairspray, it would have ‘medium hold’ written in red lettering on the can, whilst Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Urban Decay Primer Potion would be offering ‘strong hold’.
I’m sure there are people out there who could happily use this and not have any creasing issues at all, but unfortunately with super oily lids like mine, I’m not one of them.
