On a recent trip to Sephora, I couldn’t resist picking up a travel-sized Make Up For Ever High Definition Powder whilst waiting at the checkout. This brand has such a following that I felt I had to try out something from their line, and a translucent powder seemed a good option.
There is no doubt that this power is finely milled. Every time I open the jar or dip my brush into it some powder escapes like smoke. However, on application this powder really doesn’t perform. It left my face looking very matt, flat, and dehydrated. Even the application of blush and highlight did little to rectify the situation. I started to think that this was a product designed for very oily skins, yet this did very little to control oil in my t-zone. It also left my skin with a white-ish cast which was visible under both indoor lighting and natural sunlight, and showed up in photographs too. This is probably because of the high silica content. I’ve tried applying less powder, but I always get the same result.
Sadly, this is not the powder for me. My Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre is still my go-to product.
I bought this travel-sized container of Make Up For Ever High Definition Powder at Sephora for USD $15. As far as I know, this is not yet available in Australia.
