Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Cassis

Yet another purchase I made in the States recently was Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Cassis. Even though for the average person a purple liner may be an indulgent purchase, I’m an eyeliner fanatic and don’t leave the house without lining my top lash line (at least). I’ve bought the Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Ebene countless times, but I’ve been finding that black is a little harsh on me of late. Dark brown eyeliners have become my daily habit as they’re much more flattering on my skintone and they enhance my eyecolour. Chanel’s Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Cassis – a dark purplish-burgundy colour – seemed like a suitable variation on a theme.

After chatting to the Chanel sales assistant at Neiman Marcus about the Fall 2010 Collection, this eyeliner was the product that stood out to me.  Clearly purples are all the rage, and the collection was stunning, but what did I really need? The Enigma quad was beautiful, but I really don’t need another eyeshadow quad. The blushes were beautiful too, but I have a fairly comprehensive collection of Chanel blushes already. The Stylo Yeux Waterproof seemed like something I would actually use, as it would go beautifully with any purple eye look.

Well, this liner has joined my collection, and I love it. It is the perfect liner to use with a purple eye look, but looks equally stunning with a smokey grey or brown eye look.

The colour is very beautiful and very, very wearable. You can see by the photos above that the liner applied to the top lash line looks like a softened black-purple, but the same liner on the bottom lash line shows more of the purplish-burgundy colour.

The good news for me is that it doesn’t budge. I have lots of trouble keeping eyeliner and mascara in place the whole day, but I have always found the Stylo Yeux formula very reliable. As far as waterproof, long-lasting eyeliners go, the product is one the hard side, so I scribble the liner on the back of my hand to warm up the product before applying. There are other, softer alternatives in the waterproof eyeliner category such as Lancome’s Le Stylo Waterproof and L’Oreal’s Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Liner, but their softness means that I run through them much, much quicker – particularly the offering from L’Oreal.  Chanel’s Stylo Waterproof is not so hard that it tugs the eyelid, so it’s quite comfortable to apply.  It also smudges out easily with a pencil brush and sets after about three minutes.  The Chanel Stylo Waterproof also has a sharpener built in to the top of the pencil which is very handy.

I bough Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Cassis from Neiman Marcus for USD $28.

  1. This looks lovely on you. I pondered over getting this, I feel odd without liner and love purples. I never got it in the end but now I’m regretting it. I picked up RBR Delilah instead but I think the Chanel is a bit richer in colour.

Thankyou Jane! I get so much wear out of this liner. Violine looks pretty too, but I’m not sure that I’d get much everday use out of it. It also makes so much sense to put this liner with purple eye looks. I do love the look of RBR Delilah too! I’ll have to investigate how well it stays put though. I’ve got liners in my collection that I just can’t use because I end up looking like a sad mime by 11am :)

    do you have teersproof eyeliner????

  4. Dempeaux says:

No, I’ve never heard of it :)

This looks great, and I am always on the hunt for a good purple-toned eyeliner to try and highlight/compliment my green eyes. All of the ones I’ve used in the past had no staying power though. This looks promising!

It’s good because it doesn’t scream purple liner and it actually stays on throughout the day! I think this would look stunning on green eyes :O

I love waterproof liners, I think that’s all I’ll buy from now on, can’t stand seeing myself in the mirror half way through the day to find I’ve got eyeliner half way down my face. This colour looks amazing :D

I completely agree. It makes so much sense in Australia, particularly in summer when everything melts off your face as soon as you step outside!

Love this one on you, it seems to intensify your eye color. I have one of these in a brown tone (can’t recall the name) and like it but don’t love it. I will dig it out of the stash and give it another go- thanks to your post. x jeanie

It’s a very easy colour to wear, that’s for sure! I hope your eyeliner in brown turns out to be even better than you remember! :)

i have a TERRIBLE time keeping my eyeliner on.
I’m going to have to try this, purely for the staying power :)
It’s a pretty colour though too.

  12. Dempeaux says:

Oh I sympathise with you! Definitely try this for the staying power, and try Lancome’s Waterproof eyeliner too. They both stay on really well :)
