This hairspray has replaced my Schwarzkopf Silhouette hairspray which has been my constant companion for the past two years. Gone is my crunchy Silhouette hair and welcomed is my new soft, shiny, stay-in-place hair.
I found L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray in Extra Strong Hold on that (now infamous) trip to Walgreens as I had to curl my hair with a flatiron for a wedding I was attending. Now, we all know that hours before a special event you should not be experimenting with products, but as my Silhouette hairspray had well and truly run out, I had no choice!
I should firstly mention that I have very straight hair that rejects curls very well. When I last went to a wedding (a few months ago) I had my hair set in hot rollers by a hairdresser, and then blitzed with Silhouette. By the time the main meal appeared at the reception, my curls were looking very sad indeed, and my hair was still crunchy and hard from the ton of hairspray still lodged in it.
For this most recent wedding in Texas, I curled my hair myself with my GHD, and applied lots and lots of Elnett hairspray to set the effect. My hair didn’t feel crunchy, and instead looked like it had no product in it at all. The mist eminating from the nozel is very fine indeed, and whilst it holds hair very well, it brushes out very easily too (unlike my Silhouette). It does smell like a hairspray from the 1950s initially, but the smell fades very quickly. It also claims to protect against humidity, but I’ve never had a problem with humidity so I’m not sure if this is the case.
By the end of the night, my curls were still intact, even after an afternoon of Texan heat then dancing the night away. My curls have never, ever, stayed in my hair for so long, so I’m planning on using the same technique for the next wedding I’m attending next month.
L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Stong Hold is AUD $19.95 from Priceline, Price Attack, and the odd supermarket.
