I’ve been growing out a short hair cut for around a year now, and as my hair gets longer I find myself boosting the conditioning element of my hair care routine with treatments more regularly.
Surya is an organic, vegan brand which is paraben and petrochemical free. Their Color Fixation Intensive Treatment Restorative Mask is intended for dry, damaged and/ or colour treated hair, and claims to extend the life of your colour. This treatment mask is full of essential oils and moisturisers, but it is the Cupuacu Butter and Buriti Oil in particular which protect the hair folicle from UV light after treatment. To be honest, I’ve never had a problem with fading hair colour – even professional treatments at my hair salon don’t seem to make my hair colour any more vibrant at the eight week mark when it needs re-colouring. Thus, I didn’t notice much of a difference in my colour with the Surya Color Fixation Mask either.
The consistency of this mask is slightly firmer than a standard hair mask, which actually makes it easier to work through your hair, as you’re not at risk of losing most of it down the plug hole. It also has a natural floral fragrance which doesn’t linger in your hair after the treatment has been washed out.
The Color Fixation Intensive Treatment Restorative Mask does a fantastic job of conditioning my hair. I leave it on for 15 minutes, and when I rinse it out, my hair is beautifully soft without being weighed down. I generally use this once a week, but in very hot weather I can use it twice or three times a week without any product build-up or greasiness.
I bought the Color Fixation Intensive Treatment Restorative Mask from Surya.com.au for AUD $18.70 (230ml) plus 5.50 postage. They ship worldwide.
