Vintage Clothing and a Skirt from Etsy

So.

I’m still obsessed with JolieVintageShop on Etsy.

My latest two purchases are a blazer and dress, and I’ve also recently picked up a skirt from MaisyBrownReproRetro, based in Sydney.

I’ve already had quite a bit of wear out of the blazer below.  It’s a 1940s navy blue piece with a really flattering peplum flare at the bottom.  It makes my waist look super toned!  If you haven’t tried on anything with a peplum yet, do so. You’ll be amazed at how it scuplts your body.

This blazer is made with medium-weight wool that’s not itchy at all.  It cost me USD $132 plus $13.99 shipping to Australia:

I’m also rediscovering how much taller long pencil skirts can make you look!

My next purchase was too good to pass up, even though I’m not likely to go to a formal event any time soon.  It’s a 1960s empire-waisted, emerald green, velvet dress. I particularly love the feel of real velvet, as opposed to velveteen that seems to be everywhere these days. It’s remarkable that every singe glass bead is still intact too.  It only cost me USD $114 plus $14.99 shipping to Australia. Bargain! :

The main reason I bought it was because it reminded me of the dress Olivia Hussey wore in Zefferelli’s 1968 film “Romeo and Juliet”:

Hmmm…have to work on the hair.

Then, my last purchase was from MaisyBrownReproRetro.

This red, high-waisted, fish-tail skirt is made from jersey and I love it. Truth be told, it’s a little on the tight side, but it was advertised as a size AUS 6 – 8, so I knew that going in. I loved it so much that I had to have it – it can be my reward for dropping an inch or two from my waist (if such a thing ever happens).  It cost me USD $71 plus $8 shipping:

And that’s the haul!

@Lilit Thankyou! I love that style myself, although it’s hard to come by. I’m thinking about getting the black one too :)

  9. I love the blazer! I am sure you’re going to get a lot of wear out of it and for many years. Also, anything with a fabulous waist cinch deserves top ranking in the wardrobe. The black and red dress is also gorgeous and you look amazing in it. Again – great finds!

@Selina Thankyou! It’s going to be getting a workout over the cooler months. I wish I could have picked up more detail in the dress, but seriously, it’s gorgeous! :)
