I picked up L’Oreal’s Color Appeal Metal Plum eyeshadow when I was in desparate need of a study break pick-me-up. It’s a really pretty taupe-mauve colour which has a great texture and is easy to apply and blend:
But when swatched, these colours look very similar. Satin Taupe is more of a traditional taupe colour, whereas L’Oreal Metal Plum has more of a mauve cast, and Victoria’s Secret Private Beach is a similar taupe-mauve but with a coppery undertone.
Here I’ve paired with with Barry M LipPaint in number 129 which is a pale lavender. My blue eyes actually look more green with this shadow on, so green-eyed girls will get a lovely intense look with this shadow.
I really like Metal Plum. I think the mauve is very flattering on the eye. The shadow is easy to apply, buttery soft, and the pattern in the pan shows no sign of disappearing even after quite a few applications. As I like to apply just one colour to the lid, crease, and lower lash line, I really like the way the colour shifts with the light, creating the impression of about three colours on the lid, rather than one.
