So I took a short break from the thesis and went out on Friday night…

I usually don’t get so excited about going out for a meal, but this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to frock up in goodness knows how long. The guilt of leaving my thesis for a night is setting in right about now, as well as the work I have to do to catch up on the time I spent away.

So anyway, here was how the afternoon panned out…

Me, sans makeup, in my trusty knitted DVF dress. This thing is a dream to travel in:

Dresses and backup dresses:

The makeup battleground:

Putting the slap on:

Curls in:

Some pics of the fab DVF dress I wore out.  Love the Michael Kors shoes too:

Note to self – bring false lashes next time:

The restaurant. Gorgeous meal and service.

At about 10.30pm, on my way to the bar, I walked passed James May. Possibly the greatest moment of my life.

And the obligatory, blurry shot of a Christmas tree!

So now it’s *definitely* back to the books time, but nice to have a night out :)

@Jade Loved it. So nice to get out and about :) Yes, and James May! If only I’d come up with a witticism – instead my mouth just fell open in disbelief. Thanks Jade :)

  3. Julie says:

Oh wow, your DVF dress is to die for!! Love the low back! Thanks for taking us with you on your night out :)

  4. I still remember the ‘i should be working on my thesis but I’m not’ guilt. It was awful – its the one thing that makes the final few months of the phd utterly unbearable. We got engaged about 6 weeks before i was due to submit and so everyone wanted to take us out for drinks to celebrate. I felt that I couldnt say no, yet felt so guity going out that I never really relaxed and enjoyed myself. And as supportive as hubby was, he never really understood what I was going through ‘surely you can take one night off…its not going to make a difference’ was muttered repeatably!

The funny thing is after you submit the guilty feeling lingers for about a month afterwards…even though you are now free to go out you will be sitting there feeling guilty before you remind yourself that you are now free! Not long to go!!

Ps I had to google who james may was!!
