Too Faced Mood Swing Emotionally Activated Lip Gloss in ‘Pink Shimmer’

The (supposed) colour range of this lip gloss

After trying and liking the original version of this gloss, I was intrigued by the newer incarnations that Too Faced have just come out with.  As ‘Berry Pink’ and ‘Petal Pink’ sounded like colours that were already over-represented in my collection, I decided to got for ‘Pink Shimmer’.

This gloss comes in a ‘Juicy Tube’ style squeeze-tube, which is not my favourite applicator, but dispenses the product relatively evenly.  When it first comes out of the tube, the gloss is clear with a hint of lavender, and once it develops with body heat, it becomes a pink with a lilac undertone (see swatches above).  This is a more wearable version of the original Mood Swing gloss that turns hot pink, although this gloss doesn’t show much of the pink shimmer that is so boldly indicated on the box.  Moreover, I still don’t see any evidence of the gloss changing from deep lavender to pink as indicated on the side of the box.  The scent of the product is also very sweet (vanilla and strawberries? Who knows…) but not overpowering, and it doesn’t linger for more than a few minutes.

This gloss does have great staying power though, and whilst the gloss will disappear with your next cup of coffee, the colour will stay around on your lips for hours.  This is also a very hydrating formula, as the gloss contains Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, and Vitamin E – quite a feat given its longevity.  It feels very comfortable on the lips.  There is also a tingling associated with the product which leads to a little lip-plumping.

Overall, I really like this gloss, but am disappointed that Too Faced would (yet again) claim that this product has a colour-changing range that it does not.  If Too Faced were to just concentrate on the many good aspects of this formula (longevity, great hydration, noveltly etc) then they would still easily sell this great quality product.

Too Faced Mood Swing Emotionally Activated Lip Gloss in ‘Pink Shimmer’ is available from Kit Cosmetics for AUD $32.95, which is where I bought mine.  It’s also available for USD $18.50 from the Too Faced website, and is occasionally to be seen on Ebay.

I was looking at this gloss in Kit a few weeks ago and was tempted to buy it. It looks like a really pretty colour.

It’s really beautiful! Great formula and it’ll last for ages 🙂 It actually feels more like a lip balm than a lip gloss.
