Shiro Cosmetics Haul

I am knee-deep in thesis work at the moment, but just wanted to stick my head over the parapet for a moment and show you my latest Shiro cosmetics haul. It turned up yesterday so I haven’t had much of a chance to play with the shadows yet.

Here are the swatches:

I love all three of these, but if I had to choose a favourite, I’d choose ‘There Will Be Cake’. It strikes a beautiful balance between shimmer and glitter, and has a gorgeous texture. I have a feeling that ‘Deadly Neurotoxin’and ‘Shoes For Orphans’ will work really well on the eye too.

How gorgeous is ‘Veran’? I’m not a huge blue eyeshadow person, but wow! I expect I’ll be sporting this at some point today, perhaps with ‘Hyperbeam’. ‘Beta’ is a lovely olive green which is a bit outshone by ‘Veran’ in the swatch above, but is lovely in its own right.

I love all of these colours too. You can’t really go wrong with purples, burgundies, or mustard browns in winter.

I’m always drawn to red and orange eyeshadows because they bring out blue eyes so well, but ‘Hearts’ and ‘Are You Still There’ are a little more on the peach side of things, so I’m not sure how well we’ll get on. ‘Subrosia’ looks more promising.

Looks at my poor swatch hand! All red from swatching!  These last two shadows were the freebies enclosed with my order. I like ‘Poliwrath’, and I already have (and love) ‘Boomerang’. I’m not sure how much wear I’ll get out of a mid-toned blue, but the smooth texture and sophisticated shimmer are encouraging me to give it a go.

If you haven’t checked out the new Shiro Cosmetics website yet, do so. There are lots of new shadows that look stunning. You’ll be hard-pressed to narrow down your list!

So that’s the haul! Now, back to work…

Edit: Here are some photos of ‘Veran’ hastily and heavily applied. Check out all its majesty:

Edit II: Here is ‘There Will Be Cake’ applied to the eye. Just gorgeous, and no creasing over Too Faced Shadow Insurance!

Love the look of ‘will there be cake’ – that may or may not have anything to do with my current cake craving! haha

Veran looks amazing too – I bet that would be a gorgeous liner!

  2. Celina says:

Oh wow~! Check out that pigmentation, that’s amazing 😀

  3. Dempeaux says:

@Stef Yes! Those two are the standouts I think. I should have issued an edict for everyone to include both of those in their next order, but, you know, I don’t want to seem pushy 😉

  4. Dempeaux says:

@Celina They’re such lovely quality. I was at a Chanel counter not long ago talking to an SA about the ‘hit and miss’ nature of the quads, and she suggested that I wet the shadows to get maximum colour payoff. I thought immediately of Shiro cosmetics and the intensity they give without any water!

  5. olivia says:

I like the Deadly Neurotoxin for both name and color!

  6. Dempeaux says:

@Olivia Me too! It’s part of the new ‘Science’ Collection. The names are great!

  7. Angela says:

Nice haul! I like Deadly Neurotoxin, There Will Be Cake and Veran the most.

  8. Dempeaux says:

    @Angela Me too! There’s a lot to love 😉

  9. Suzanne says:

Shiro are just so fabulous. I’m amping myself up for more intertubes, Everything is Bears and Kawaiishadows.

  10. Dempeaux says:

@Suzanne They are brilliant. I want Everthing is Bears too!

  11. ki says:

I must get some of those Science Collection colours now – your swatches make them look fantastic!

  12. Dempeaux says:

@ki Thankyou! Caitlin is so talented 🙂

  13. Claire says:

‘There will be cake’ just looks amazing. Those are some really gorgeous swatches and so pigmented. I’m not really into pinks, corals and reds but I’m kind of falling for ‘hearts’ and ‘are you still there?’ they look perfect for summer.

ps- good luck with your thesis.

  14. Dempeaux says:

@Claire ‘There Will Be Cake’ is a must-have, I think. ‘Hearts’ and ‘Are You Still There’ would make great summer colours! Thanks for the luck 🙂

  15. Damn you Dempeaux. I only discovered your blog a couple of weeks ago and I already am on the verge of doing an order from MuLondon and now another one from Shiro. Where in the heck do you find all of these awesome brands that no one else seems to have mentioned before???

  16. Dempeaux says:

@Sarah Yay! Glad to be of service 😉

  17. Tara says:

There will be cake is lovely!
I quite like that blue shade on your eyes Sarah

  18. Emily says:

With Shiro being featured on my favorite blogs lately, I feel like I’m creeping closer and closer to the inevitability of placing my own order. I’m looking forward to hearing how you get on with them first, though! I have oily lids, too, and haven’t heard yet how they work with oily lids.

What a great break from studies!

  19. Dempeaux says:

@Emily I haven’t given these shadows a proper test yet, but the last lot of Shiro shadows I ordered actually stayed on my oily lids (with TFSI) better than most other shadows! Yes, it is a pretty good break 😉

  20. jeanie says:

Pretty, pretty! If I didn’t make such a mess with loose things! I’m pure butter fingers anymore esp- if the hues are rich!

  21. Jade says:

Veran looks amazing, I really should have a swatch and play with my Shiro shadows!

  22. Dempeaux says:

@Jeanie It’s not too bad once you get used to handling loose pigments, but yes, it can lead to a messy bathroom! Shiro is totally worth it though 😉

  23. Dempeaux says:

@Jade Veran would look amazing on you. It’s also got the tiniest pink sparkles which my camera couldn’t pick up 🙂

  24. There Will Be Cake looks awesome! I’m practically drooling over these swatches. Thank you so much for sharing! Best of luck with the thesis work too.

  25. Dempeaux says:

@ModestyBrown It’s such a lovely colour, and even more beautiful in person! Thanks for the luck 🙂 x

  26. Wow they look so seriously pigmented, I’m such a clutz with loose pigments, if they are not all down my cheek I will inevitabley blow or sneeze them all over the place!

  27. Dempeaux says:

@Julie Yes, it is an art to handle loose pigments, but I love them so much it’s worth it 🙂

  28. Dempeaux says:

    @Jen 😀 Still loving Shiro Cosmetics 🙂
