Liquid Eyeliners – the Good and the Bad

I’m on a bit of a black  liquid eyeliner hunt at the moment, so I came home from the shops one day with all of these eyeliners to try out.  All promise to give a very black, precise, easy-to-apply, smudge-proof line.  So how do they fair in practice?

The Covergirl Line Exact and Maybelline Line Definer were about the same in all respects.  They have a nib like a marker pen, so application was easy, but the line they both producted was more like a watery grey than blackest black.  They also both stopped working after just a few applications, so I’m definitely not repurchasing either of those.  The Revlon Colourstay I’ve been using for years, and I’ve been very happy with it.  However, I find that when I use it every day over a period of weeks, my lids become a bit irritated when I put it on.  So I thought I’d pick up Rimmel’s Exaggerate Eyeliner for a comparison, and let me tell you, they’re both exactly the same.  Even the packaging is identical.  So, if you’re after a black liquid eyeliner that doesn’t budge and produces a very black line, pick up the Rimmel or the Revlon.
